Message from the DirectorAt its most basic, HealthEdit exists to help clients communicate better. Having been a registered nurse for more than 25 years and in publishing for more than 15 years, I've been providing communication solutions of one kind or another for a long time. I understand professional reference content and drug information, their structures, and their potential. For instance, I served as editorial director for an international, professional health care publisher for six years, during which time I managed the best-selling drug handbook for nurses in the world. I also directed the conversion of that content to XML and the development of a DTD (set of XML rules) to handle it so that the drug information might be leveraged to multiple outlets quickly and easily. I also understand every piece of the publishing process. I started in publishing as an associate editor for the world-renowned Weekly Reader Corporation and worked my way through the ranks to director of a market-leading vertical portal for nurses. These experiences, along with my background as a nurse and nursing instructor, provide me with a comprehensive knowledge base about publishing processes, product strategies, and how to meet the content needs of health care professionals and consumers looking for health care information. HealthEdit leverages all of those strengths — and the strengths of several other talented people — for the betterment of our clients. We typically use a "process" approach to working on a project:
I make certain that everyone who works with HealthEdit understands this approach and implements it with every client. I oversee every aspect of every project to ensure a consistent, professional job. Please know that when you hire HealthEdit for a project, you've enlisted a partner dedicated to helping you meet your goals, whatever they might be. If you have questions about HealthEdit, what it does, or how it does it, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. Thank you. Andy McPhee, Director
